Easter

He did miracles, told parables
Men followed Him in awe
He tried to warn them of His future
The present is all they saw

But soon men began to hate Him
For He saw them as they were
Filled with evil and hate and greed
Then their hearts began to stir

So, then, in anger they sought for
A way to stop this man
This man who came to teach us love
and how to be born again

Then they planned to kill our Savior
And Judas helped them, too
Oh! how shamefully betrayed
By one He loved and knew

They beat Him, spit on Him and jeered
Pressed thorns upon His head
One day, on a Cross at Calvary,
They left Him there for dead

But Oh! the glorious victory!
For no grave could ever hold
That very, Holy, Love of God
this Love can now be told

How angels rolled away the stone
From the doorway of His grave
Then He arose! He lives! He loves
For you His life He gave

My friend, Praise Him, ever trust Him
For you are why He died
If you accept Him and His gift
In His peace you will abide

Oh! what joy to know our Lord
Whose love for us is true
He came, He lived, He died, He arose
All this He did for you!
